DJ Khaled’s music has hit the top spot on the Billboard charts in the past, but his newest entry made him feel extra emotional.
On Sunday (May 9), Khaled uploaded a heartwarming video to his Instagram timeline, in which he cried tears of joy. The veteran artist DJ posted the video shortly after he was notified that his latest album Khaled Khaled hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.
“I cried many nights,” Khaled wrote in his caption. “Tears of JOY and Pain making this album. Everyone’s beautiful words, texts, messages really touched my heart. God is Great! THANK YOU! THE LIGHT 🌞 #KHALEDKHALED#1 album in the country 🤲🏽 @billboard. I told my team they have permission to film everything. I want my fans to see the real. Just be. Always be you.”
Khaled’s third No. 1 album follows other LPs like Major Key (2016), and Grateful (2017). According to Billboard, Khaled Khaled garnered 93,000 equivalent album units during the tracking week ending May 6. From the overall total, TEA units comprise 3,000, album sales comprise 14,000 and SEA units add up to 76,000 (equaling 106.87 million on-demand streams of the album’s tracks).
The Miami resident’s recent success comes over a week after he released his 12th studio album Khaled Khaled via We The Best Music, Roc Nation and Epic Records. The 14-track album features stand-out bangers like “Big Paper” with Cardi B and “Sorry Not Sorry” featuring Jay-Z, Nas, James Fauntleroy, and Harmonies By The Hive. Prior to the album’s release, Khaled dropped “Greece” and “Popstar” with Drake, which definitely helped boost the album to the top spot of the most coveted chart in the country.
Since the album’s release, Khaled has released several music videos for songs like “Sorry Not Sorry,” “We Going Crazy” featuring H.E.R. & Migos, “Every Chance I Get” featuring Lil Baby and Lil Durk plus “Where You Come From” with Buju Banton, Capleton, Bounty Killer and Barrington Levy.
